10 Facts About Me

While thinking about what to write for this I was trying to think of things that weren’t in my bio and that would also help you get to know me better. I decided it was best to not have a theme at all to this post and just kind of let you see into my life a bit. Even though I wish my entire life revolved around photography that definitely isn’t always the case. Don’t get me wrong I love photography and capturing beautiful and creative moments but it is always good to expand your knowledge and also take a break from things every once in a while to give yourself a fresh perspective when you come back to it.

  1. I Am An Introvert

Now you might think, “Well Hailey, isn’t photography a more extroverted job?” And to that I say, “It totally is and I love it!” Why? Because it forces me out of my comfort zone and pushes me to become a good communicator. I’ve learned so much about myself through this process doing things that I never thought I could do. I always look forward to my sessions and weddings because I get to have fun and enjoy being with people but then when the day is done I am exhausted. It then takes me a few days to get back to normal haha but I wouldn’t change it.

  2. I Have Extra Bones in My Feet

Honestly, just a fun fact about me. I’ve had them all my life and I have special orthotics in my shoes to keep my feet and legs aligned and in check. And no they don’t bother me on a full wedding day or a full day of hiking!

  3. I Got Married When I Was 20 & Engaged When I was 19

Mine and my husband’s love story is a pretty interesting one but it’s definitely a story for another day because it would be too long to share here. We planned a relatively large wedding in the middle of Dixon’s Apple Orchard in Cadott WI (Which is a beautiful venue btw with many different ceremony settings and full access to the property for the entire day of your wedding.) Now I definitely would’ve loved to plan an elopement but we valued having our family at our wedding so opted for a traditional wedding instead. We had it on a Sunday which gave it more of a relaxed and laid back vibe which was way more our style.

Pro Tip: Always choose the wedding You want and do not let others dictate how to do your wedding. “Your wedding, Your Day, Your Way” otherwise you will not enjoy all of the time and effort you’ve put into planning it and you’ll be so overwhelmed with pleasing other people there. So whether it is an elopement on a grand mountain top, a little courthouse ceremony, or a large traditional wedding make it about you two as a couple and don’t let others interfere in that love you have with each other!

  4. My Style Most of the Time is Granola Girl With a Touch of Comfy.

The majority of my wardrobe is hiking pants, travel t-shirts, and Sweatpants. When I get dressed up though it’s a big deal for me. Going to weddings or going out for a dinner date I will go all out. When I’m at home or my day to day quite honestly I’m in a T-shirt and sweatpants. I’m a real fan of those jogger leggings from Old Navy!

  5. I Choose Not to Wear Makeup

Nothing wrong with my makeup gals out there because makeup does definitely make your facial features pop during photoshoots so highly recommend! But on my day to day that typically isn’t part of my routine. I did wear makeup for my wedding and will wear a very very natural look when I go out for special events. I guess I just never really felt the need but also don’t really like the feeling of makeup on my skin. Maybe I just haven’t found the right products haha so if you’ve got any recommendations leave them in the comments for me.

  6. Coaching Tennis is One of My Favorite Fall Sport Activities

From August-October I help coach high school tennis in Barron and I enjoy every minute of it. Plus it’s an added bonus because I make just enough from it every year to go on a week or two long family vacation.

  7. I Have to Have Crushed Ice In All of My Drinks Extra Points If a Place Has Nugget Ice

I’m unsure how I really got into this habit. I really think it was because of my dad always having ice in his cup. Dealing with cubed ice is fine but I usually let it sit in my drink until the ice cubes get soft enough. I’m a terrible ice chewer. I’m sure it’s an addiction lol.

  8. Never Will I Ever Drink Root Beer

Don’t give it to me. I won’t drink it. The taste for me is disgusting. My favorite drink is Sprite though and I will never give that up.

  9. My First Airplane Ride I Ever Took Was In 2020 When I Was Pregnant

My dad is afraid of flying so when I was little we always just drove places. It was also cheaper for my large family to just drive places rather than fly. In April of 2020 my mom wanted to plan a girls trip mainly so that my sister could get a flight in before she went to New Zealand so I flew with my mom and my sister to Florida. It was only a 2 hour flight but it was miserably uncomfortable. I did not feel good for most of the flight and quite frankly it made me never want to fly again. Since then I have gone on other flights and have changed my perspective on flying. We even took a trip with my 15 month old to Florida this year for the first time which really wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be and I will definitely be doing it again in the near future.

  10. I Have a Heart for God and Helping People

I have been raised in a church my entire life so my religion is very important to me. Christianity has really shaped me into who I am today. Growing my relationship with God has taught me many things and has helped me change perspectives on a lot of topics.

Helping people has always been on my heart and through photography I really get to do that and help people feel seen, beautiful, and important because everyone is already those things. I just help them realize it and help them let it shine.

I really do hope you found this interesting and learned something new about me as your photographer as I had a ton of fun writing this post for you guys. I typically don’t enjoy talking a lot about myself because I more like to hear others talk and celebrate in other’s achievements over my own.
